With 5,000 triathletes and their family’s coming to the Gold Coast for the ITU World Cup final, the Volare team thought it was only appropriate to let you in on a few of our secret swim, cycle, and run spots. Since you will be competing in our backyard we have also put together a few of our top cafes and restaurants.

The inside word is that a wetsuit swim seems likely, this means that you need only the best wetsuit, so you can keep up with the top swimmers. Volare’s range of tri wetsuit will meet any need out there.

There are many great swimming spots our top recommendations are Southport Aquatic Centre where you can bake in the warm sun while swimming next to the race day swimming course. If you are after some open water swimming and don’t fancy the bull sharks in the broad water or fighting the surf at the beach then Lake Hugh Muntz in Mermaid Waters is a great place to swim, there is also a netted off section in the broad water next to Aqua Splash.

Fancy a hill climb on your bike then head into the hinterland up Beechmount for some epic climbs and even better downhill riding. You will come away feeling refreshed and calm from all the beauty the hinterland has to offer. Or if you are after a more relaxed ride then head towards the beach and cycle along the waterfront.

If you are looking for a running route away from the hustle and bustle of the busy Gold Coast streets, there is a beautiful 10k run from Southport Surf Club to The Spit and back, follow along the walkway or trail and listen to the beautiful sounds coming from the waves crashing and the birds chirping. Coombabah parklands also offers up some great trails away from traffic.

To get our coffee fix, you will find us at either Merlo in Ferry Road Brickworks or grabbing a coffee at our local The Roost on Johnston Street (they also do an epic pulled pork burrito), which is just around the corner from the Volare concept store.

After a grueling training session head to Lark in Main beach for an epic breakfast or if you're after something smaller then grab an acai bowl from the Juice bar in Ferry Road Markets or from The Fresh Bar at Pacific Fair.

After your nap you will need another coffee and snack and there are no better places to go then Raw Espresso, Alfreds, Dark Espresso, Paper Cup or Café on Hedges, they all have great coffee and yummy selections of food.

In your downtime, you’ll want to keep a low profile and rest up, so before the event why not come to visit us at our concept store or during the event at our expo stand we have a great range of triathlon wetsuits, swimming skins, and tri suits.

We would also recommend visiting one of the many Surf Clubs they are super easy to find, just head to the best looking beach and walk along it until you find one. You will be treated to picturesque view while you chow down some food or throw back a few local Balter beers.

Our favourite restaurants are Etsu, which makes the best Japanese be careful about just rocking up as this places is so popular you will have to book. Thai on Ferry in our opinion is the best Thai on the coast, make sure you try our favourite dish the panang curry. Bistro Chico is another favourite of ours serving up a mix of Australian, Mediterranean, and Asian tapers along with mains and cocktails.

Sunday morning markets at the Gold Coast Art Centre offer a great selection of local cuisine, enjoy a coffee and croissant while listening to some great local live music.

Need any more tips on where to swim, cycle, run, dine or chill out comment on this post and we will do our best to make sure your experience is one you won’t forget.
